What is flame cutting TWI
Flame cutting is oxygen cutting in which the appropriate part of the material to be cut is raised to ignition temperature by an oxyfuel gas flame definition from BS 499:Part 1:1991 Section 7 No.72 002. Also known as oxyfuel cutting, the process is used for separating and shaping steel components. It is carried out using a torch through which oxygen and a fuel gas acetylene, propane or mains gas are passed.
What is Flame Cutting
The process often called Flame Cutting is known by many names, such as Oxy Acetylene Cutting, Oxy Fuel Gas Cutting, Oxygen Burning, Steel Burning and other terms too numerous to mention. The process is now about 111112 years old as it was patented in 1901 by Thomas Fletcher.
Flame Cutting Oxy Fuel Cutting A Method to Cut Thick Steel
Flame cutting oxy fuel cutting or oxy acetylene cutting, as its name, with oxy fuel gas burning through a cutting torch, makes a flame and with the flame heat to cut steels. It is an oldest way in hot steel cutting activities.

SP101 Flame Cutting Ruger Forum
Flame cutting is self limiting but when shooting the lighter grain 357s with certain powders and loads a person needs to watch for erosion at the forcing cone. Removing lead and other deposits from the forcing cone after a range session will limit forcing cone problems.

You have more to worry about from a Martian Invasion than you do from your Smith amp Wesson being cut in half at the breech by heat erosion.
Oxyfuel welding and cutting Wikipedia
Oxyfuel welding and oxyfuel cutting are processes that use fuel gases and oxygen to weld or cut metals. French engineers Edmond Fouch and Charles Picard became the first to develop oxygenacetylene welding in 1903. Pure oxygen, instead of air, is used to increase the flame temperature to allow localized melting of the workpiece material in a room environment. A common propane/air flame burns at about 2,250 K, a propane/oxygen flame burns at about 2,526 K, an oxyhydrogen flame burns at ...
The Difference Between Flame Cutting, Plasma Cutting and ...
Flame Cutting. Flame cutting is a thermal cutting process that uses oxygen and a fuel source to create a flame with enough energy to melt and sever material. The use of oxygen and fuel in the flame cutting process is why it is also often referred to as oxyfuel cutting. Flame cutting uses a neutral flame to heat the material up to its ...
